I have no idea why it appears so small... any help here?

^Doesn't look small to me.

Nice idea and decent execution, but it could use two big changes for big improvement:
1) Some contrast is essential. Everything is yellow at the moment and it all blends together. At the very lease make the text stand out by making it darker.
2) I think the phrase "Stop competing" is a little awkward (to read and to say). It might be a better choice to instead use "Stop trying!"

This would look great on a black tee...but yellow on white is a big no-no.

I'm at a loss as to what color to change it to. Orange?

If you like the yellow, take the elements, break them into the smallest parts (words, symbols), duplicate them, increase the duplicates size just a bit, and layer the smaller yellow originals over the larger black duplicates and it will be easy to read on white -- and still yellow. As is, it hurts the eyes. Or, if your vector software has an outline feature, just do that. In black.

Or you could simply use the complimentary color of yellow, which is purple, to contrast it. That'd be much more pleasing to the eye.

Now that you've made the letters more visible/readable, I say give this another workshop. Much better!
